One of the questions I’m asked most often is: “How do I know if my child is actually ready for online lessons?” It’s a fair question — and the honest answer is that readiness looks different for every child.
That said, there are a few signs that tend to come up again and again.
They have a specific area they’re finding difficult
Online tuition works best when there’s something concrete to work on — whether that’s creative writing, reading comprehension, grammar or building confidence with spelling. If your child has a clear gap or a subject they consistently find frustrating, that’s a good starting point for structured support.
They can focus for 30 minutes at a time
Lessons run from 30 minutes to an hour, delivered via Zoom. Your child doesn’t need to be perfectly focused — that’s partly what we work on together — but if they can engage with a screen-based activity for half an hour, online tuition is likely to work well for them.
You want something tailored, not one-size-fits-all
If you’ve tried workbooks, apps or group classes and found they don’t quite fit your child’s learning style, online tuition with a dedicated teacher can make a real difference. Every session I deliver is built around your child specifically — their pace, their interests and the way they learn best.
If any of these sound familiar, a free 15-minute Zoom consultation is a good place to start. No commitment, just a relaxed conversation about your child and what they need. You can book here
